Anti-Aging Solutions: The Best Facial Treatments to Combat Wrinkles
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and moisture: the first wrinkles appear. Many people find ageing skin, especially on the face, disturbing and increasingly miss their youthful appearance.
Fortunately, there are a variety of aesthetic surgery treatments available to combat this and help restore a fresh and youthful appearance to the skin. In this guide, I will explain which methods are available in detail – non-invasive, minimally invasive and proper surgical procedures.
How to find the right method to combat your wrinkles
With my many years of experience as an aesthetic surgeon in Switzerland, I can assure you that there is a suitable facial wrinkle treatment procedure for every situation and every budget.
In the following, I will inform you in detail about all possible surgical, minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures so that you can ultimately find the best solution for your individual problem. Of course, Dr. Kelly’s team will also be happy to advise you personally.
Treating facial wrinkles in a non-invasive way
For many of my patients, non-invasive treatment of facial wrinkles is the first choice – firstly because the treatments are uncomplicated and relatively quick, and secondly because no recovery time is required. Whether Botox, fillers with hyaluronic acid, microneedling, laser or chemical peels: each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, which I will explain below.
Everyone knows it or has heard of it: Botox aka botulinum toxin in medical jargon. It is one of the best-known methods of wrinkle treatment, which relaxes the muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles. Botox injections are particularly suitable for smoothing dynamic wrinkles such as forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
So-called hyaluronic acid fillers are also non-invasive. As a natural component of our skin, hyaluronic acid provides moisture and volume. With hyaluronic acid-based fillers, we can treat deep wrinkles and volume loss in our practice in Zug. This type of filler is perfect for nasolabial folds and marionette lines between the nose and mouth – as well as for augmenting the lips (lip augmentation).
Fine lines and wrinkles can be reduced particularly well with laser therapy. The Fraxel laser in particular visibly improves the skin structure. This method also stimulates collagen production and treats unwanted pigmentation spots and sun damage at the same time.
Chemical peelings, on the other hand, use special acids on the skin to remove the top layer of skin. This promotes the renewal of skin cells and significantly improves the appearance of your skin. TCA peels are particularly effective for treating wrinkles.
Microneedling is a method in which I insert fine needles into the skin to stimulate collagen production. As a result, the skin texture becomes smoother with fewer lines and wrinkles. In my experience, microneedling can be combined very well with a minimally invasive plasma treatment, also known as PRP, to support skin regeneration.
Minimally invasive treatments: PRP & thread lifting
With PRP and thread lifting, Dr. Kelly’s team also offers you minimally invasive wrinkle treatments: With thread lifting, we insert special threads into your skin to induce a lifting effect. The interesting thing about this is that the threads stimulate collagen production and dissolve by themselves after a while. Thread lifting is particularly suitable for mild to moderate sagging of the skin on the face, but also around the neck.
Plasma treatments, also known as PRP (platelet rich plasma) or vampire lifting, use the body’s own blood platelets to promote skin regeneration. This method is very natural and leads to an improvement in the appearance of the skin as well as a reduction in wrinkles.
Surgical procedures: Lifts & Blepharoplasty
Lifts and blepharoplasty are appropriate when wrinkles are very distinct and the patient wants to significantly improve and rejuvenate his or her facial appearance.
A facelift is a classic surgical procedure to tighten the skin and treat wrinkles. Excess skin is removed. In addition, the deeper layers of tissue are tightened – with a convincing end result. Facelifting is an extremely effective method that I like to recommend to patients who suffer from extreme sagging skin and deep wrinkles.
Neck lifts are also possible. A neck lifting tightens the skin and underlying muscles on the neck. I like to combine it with a facelift, as this creates a harmonious overall result.
Patients who want to get rid of drooping eyelids and bags around the eyes in particular are well advised to have an eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty. This method gives the eyes an alert and fresh look and rejuvenates the overall appearance.
Wrinkle-free thanks to specialist medical support
As you can see, there is a wide range of options for effectively smoothing wrinkles and restoring a youthful, wrinkle-free appearance to your skin. Whether you opt for non-invasive methods such as Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers or a surgical procedure such as a facelift depends on your individual preferences. We will be happy to advise you in detail and help you choose the right method for you.
