The Role of Biostimulators in Skin Rejuvenation
Rejuvenating your skin when it begins to sag and wrinkle due to age: Who wouldn’t want that? In fact, this has been a common procedure in aesthetic surgery for a while. As a cosmetic surgeon, I want to inform you in the following article about my consistently positive experiences with biostimulators for skin rejuvenation.
What are biostimulators actually?
Biostimulators are medical or cosmetic substances and procedures that we use in aesthetic surgery to stimulate the body’s own production of collagen, elastin and other important proteins in your skin. These substances can be injected into your skin or tissue to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, and make your skin look firmer and more youthful.
What types of biostimulators are out there?
There are different types of biostimulators that can be used to regenerate and rejuvenate your skin. The most commonly used biostimulators include:
- Hyaluronic acid
A natural substance found in the skin, hyaluronic acid is primarily given to retain moisture. Used as a biostimulator, it improves skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles.
- Poly Lactic Acid
PLLA, as poly lactic acid is usually abbreviated, is a synthetic polymer. This substance stimulates the body’s own production of collagen. PLLA is particularly suitable for the treatment of volume loss and wrinkles and gradually leads to skin tightening.
- Calcium hydroxylapatite
Calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, also stimulates collagen production and restores lost volume in the skin. It is a biocompatible material. CaHA is often used to treat facial wrinkles and extremely wrinkled skin on the hands.
Why should I treat my wrinkles with biostimulators?
From my broad experience in aesthetic surgery, I know how disappointing it can be for patients when the positive effects of a treatment fade after some time. The advantage of biostimulators, in my opinion, is that this procedure does not achieve only temporary effects, as it is the case with many other wrinkle treatments. Instead, biostimulators promote the natural regeneration of the skin and thus improve its appearance in the long term.
What else should I know about biostimulators?
Did you know that the effect of a treatment with biostimulators is not immediate, but usually develops over a period of several weeks or months by stimulating the body’s own production of collagen? Of course, the effectiveness of the treatment also depends significantly on the individual skin condition of the patient.
Since an incorrect injection or dosage can lead to undesirable side effects, treatments with biostimulators should only be performed by qualified medical professionals. I am happy to assist my patients here with my many years of expertise and advise them thoroughly in order to find the right treatment option for their individual needs and goals.
Which skin problems can be solved with biostimulators?
Biostimulators can be used for different aesthetic goals. In all the following listed problems, biostimulators provide improved skin structure and visual skin rejuvenation.
Biostimulators such as hyaluronic acid, poly lactic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite can be used specifically to treat wrinkles: They primarily reduce fine lines and deep wrinkles on the face. At the same time, they stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This usually leads to improved elasticity and smoother skin surface.
- Loss of volume
As we age, there is often a loss of volume in certain areas of the face. This makes us appear tired and even exhausted while we are not. Biostimulators restore that lost volume and make your face look youthful and fresh.
Biostimulators can also be used to successfully treat scars caused by acne or minor skin injuries. This gives your skin tissue a smoother texture.
- Firmness, texture and skin quality
Overall, biostimulators help improve skin firmness and elasticity. Biostimulators can also smooth and refine an uneven skin texture, often caused by sun damage. By hydrating the skin and reducing the appearance of pores and irregularities, biostimulators enhance skin quality.

Why rejuvenate skin at all?
There are different reasons for which people want to rejuvenate their skin. One of the most important of these is certainly skin aging, which is indeed a natural process, yet often significantly influenced and increased by genetic predisposition, sun exposure, lifestyle, pollution or diet.
As a result, many women and men in higher age desire smoother, more youthful skin – with fewer lines and wrinkles, more volume and elasticity – as they were used to having for decades. Last but not least, skin rejuvenation provides relief when the face looks saggy and tired due to volume loss and skin texture.
With the range of services I offer in the field of biostimulators, I want to help these people to regain a fuller and more youthful facial structure. Skin damage, pigmentation spots, skin darkening and scars can also be corrected and lost self-confidence can be restored. My patients literally feel good again in their skin. As a result, their self-image is positively boosted.
It is personally important to me that there is no right or wrong motivation for skin rejuvenation. Everyone has individual needs and the decision for aesthetic treatments should always be a thoroughly informed and personal decision. I will happily assist you in this process.
