In the past, it was assumed that cellulite was an accumulation of fat cells and needed to be treated in the same way as other areas of fat. This includes, among other things, dieting and lots of exercise. However, recent research shows that this is not the case.

Through new technologies, the truth about the dimpling of the skin and the way the body stores the fat underneath is known. The top layer of tissue consists of isolated chambers filled with fat cells. These chambers are divided by septae, walls of connective tissue. When the fat cells enlarge due to the accumulation of fat or lymph, the chambers expand and pull the septae downward. This distortion then creates, the orange peel skin we know.
