Modeling facial contours with PDO threads
Thread lifting is the most innovative method of revitalization, restoration of facial contours and tightening of facial skin with absorbable threads made of PDO (polydiaxonone). The main advantages: the impressive results, the painless, bloodless procedure without a scalpel and the immediate return to everyday life. Thus, I can model facial contours without a surgical procedure.

What is facial contouring with PDO threads?
Facial contouring with PDO threads is a minimally invasive procedure for the face, neck or body in which I insert threads that have small hooks under the skin via a fine needle. The hooks then grab the skin on the underside and pull it upward to reposition the skin in a lifted, more youthful position. This allows me to sculpt facial contours without the effect of a “pulled tight” face.
How does facial contouring with PDO threads work?
First, I determine the place where the sutures will be inserted. These are inserted under the skin into the dermis with the help of a thin, “atraumatic” needle. The depth and direction is crucial and requires extreme care and experience. With the help of “bidirectional” hooks at the tip of the thread, the threads anchor to the dermis under the surface of the skin, resulting in immediate tightening of the skin and remodeling of facial contours. The material from which PDO threads are made is biocompatible, biodegradable and completely absorbed by the body.
Am I a candidate for facial contouring with threads?
My patients for whom I perform facial contouring with PDO threads come to me with early or late signs of facial aging, such as a flattening of the cheek area, and who would like to delay surgery.
I frequently encounter patients in my practice who have had an invasive facelift in the past and would like to restore volume or sculpt facial contours without further surgery. It is also an important requirement that the skin is not extremely thick or thin.
Also, younger people who simply want to make certain areas of their face fuller, but are not (yet) ready to have surgery are very good candidates for that procedure
What happens after facial contouring with PDO threads?
After facial contouring with PDO threads, you may experience mild edema and rarely some bruising, which will gradually recede over the following days. In the days following the lift, you may experience some tenderness in the area where I placed the threads. You can resume your activities as usual after the end of the treatment, only with the recommendation to avoid strenuous activities and sports in the first days after the lift. The result is immediately visible after the procedure and improves over the next three months post-intervention, as collagen production continues for this time. The result lasts for about twelve to eighteen months.
Where can the thread lift be done?
I also use thread lifting very successfully in other areas of the body than the face. In general, it is very suitable for body areas that need tightening and lifting, such as arms, abdomen, knees, inner thighs and buttocks.
“Treatments with PDO threads, are among the most innovative methods in non-surgical facial contouring today.”
