Lower eyelid lift – eye bags are a thing of the past.
Nobody likes bags that form under the eyes with age. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty (lower eyelid lift) brings back your radiant look by removing the skin or fat from the lower eyelid. Eye bags are one of the most common problems my patients come to me with.

What is the lower eyelid lift?
Lower blepharoplasty (lower eyelid lift) eliminates bags under the eyes. These bags under the eyes are caused by periorbital fat accumulation. The fat is located under and behind the eye, and as we age, it begins to move forward and push against the skin of the lower and upper eyelid. The only way to really treat these fat deposits is to remove them. The incisions are hidden in the creases of the upper eyelids and just under the lashes of the lower eyelids. I use special techniques to correct puffy lower lids and deep bags under the eyes. Some fat is redistributed to avoid a hollow appearance, and the excess fat is trimmed away.
How does the lower eyelid lift work?
I remove the fat with a small incision on the lower eyelid. The incision on the lower eyelid is approx. 1 mm below the edge of the eyelid. On the lower eyelid, I redistribute the fatty tissue and usually transplant additional fatty tissue to refine the cheek-bottom eyelid transition (“midface lift effect”).
If no skin needs to be removed from the lower eyelids, it is possible to hide the incision on the inside of the lower eyelid so that there is no scar. This is called a transconjunctival blepharoplasty.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia or twilight sleep in the operating room and takes about 1.5 hours. After the procedure, there is a short inpatient monitoring in the patient’s private room.
Why Dr. Kelly?
I perform upper and lower blepharoplasty and eyebrow lift not with a scalpel, but with radiosurgery and a microneedle.
This technique has the following advantages for the patient:
- No bruising after the procedure
- Minimal swelling of the eye area
- Optimal scarring with fewer wound healing problems
- More precise performance of the operation
- Better aesthetic result
Radiosurgery is a technique that allows precise dissection with improved hemostasis. The result is less bruising and smaller swelling. As a result, postoperative recovery is faster.
By using radiosurgery, I can keep bleeding to a minimum. Less bleeding in this normally vascular area allows me to better visualize the anatomy and perform the surgery more precisely. In this way, I also achieve the best possible scarring.
How do eye bags form?
The main cause of eye bags is a weakening of the orbital septum. The orbital septum is a membrane that “holds” fat under the eye where it is away from the skin. Normal aging can cause the orbital septum to weaken, and the fat behind it tends to bulge outward and press on the skin. This “bulging” of fat causes or increases the appearance of the eye bags.
In addition to these causes, some people are genetically predisposed to develop extra fat under the eyes. This is also a common cause of bags under the eyes.
Am I a candidate for a lower eyelid lift?
Lower eyelid lift may be an option if you have excess skin or fatty tissue on your lower eyelids.
You may undergo another procedure at the same time as a lower blepharoplasty, such as a brow lift, facelift or skin rejuvenation.
What is the recovery time for a lower eyelid lift?
After lower blepharoplasty, you usually have a short recovery time. Although bruising and swelling are usually worse the day after lower eyelid lift surgery, they begin to disappear quickly. During the first 48 hours, the use of cool compresses can greatly reduce bruising and swelling around the eyes and face. A light dressing will usually cover the incision sites and be removed after a few days. Stitches remain in the skin for about 6 days. Sometimes I use self-absorbing sutures that do not need to be removed.
Most of my patients return to their normal daily activities about seven to ten days after their lower eyelid lift. Two weeks after the lower eyelid lift, the bruising and swelling are fully gone.

Lower blepharoplasty cost
In my practice, your well-being and an optimal result is our top priority. Each patient has an individuality whose needs are the focus of my treatments. Therefore, it is not always possible to give a general estimate of the costs for a lower eye lift. Therefore, please understand that we cannot give generally valid prices for a lower eyelid lift. The costs of each surgical treatment also depend on the personal initial situation and your wishes.
Write us a message and make your appointment! Only in the course of a medical examination we can give you a personal and binding cost estimate adapted to you!
Prices for a lower eyelid lift start from CHF 5,800. A specific, customized offer will be made to you after a personal consultation with clinical examination.
