What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a biostimulating filler that triggers the natural biological process of collagen production. Poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA), the main ingredient in Sculptra®, has been used medically for over 25 years to treat and repair facial scars and contour defects.
This property of PLLA to produce collagen is used impressively in aesthetics and makes Sculptra a special injectable. Sculptra is subsequently used to combat wrinkles and sagging skin by stimulating collagen production in the skin, helping to restore volume to healthy skin.
Because Sculptra stimulates the skin to replicate its own natural collagen over time, it helps to gradually and subtly smooth out lines, wrinkles and fine lines and compensate for the loss of facial volume that can result from the natural aging process or dramatic weight loss.
How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra works with your body to stimulate collagen production lost to aging, rebuilding and strengthening the structural foundation of your skin.
Results are not immediately visible but develop over time. For optimal results, a treatment series of 2 -3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is indicated.
The treatment itself is similar to a Dermafiller treatment. The material is injected through cannulas to the areas to be treated. Sculptra is prepared specifically for each patient and is therefore an absolutely individual, personalized treatment. Together with the expertise of Dr. Kelly Vasileiadou and her The Kelly Lift® protocol, you achieve maximum results with minimal downtime.
What is special about Sculptra?
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a molecule that is biodegradable, unlike “normal” fillers, which are primarily composed of hyaluronic acid.
After Sculptra is injected, PLLA creates a biostimulatory effect in the tissues, which in turn improves collagen locally, just below the wrinkles. As collagen synthesis progresses over the next six to 12 weeks, this direct injection ensures that this additional boost improves skin tone and, over time, softens the appearance of these wrinkles.
Collagen is an important structural protein found in connective tissue. Its job is to keep the skin firm, youthful and smooth. As we age, the body’s production of collagen decreases and wrinkles and sagging may occur.
Sculptra Difference
Sculptra® is a longer-lasting, gradual form of dermal filler that replenishes your own facial collagen, restoring volume lost over time. That means, unlike its hyaluronic acid-based relatives, Sculptra’s effects become more visible over time, giving your body the tools to continue its work.
Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production over the long term, enabling the body to restore lost volume on its own.
Sculptra’s ability to conceal fine lines and wrinkles is a remarkable feature.
For me, derma fillers and biostimulators work hand in hand. I use hyaluronic acid-based fillers to create texture, define contours and volumize specific areas. I like to combine both products because they complement each other. The Kelly Lift® is a proprietary Liquid Face Lift that includes treatments with biostimulators and fillers
Where and how is Sculptra used?
Sculptra is used mainly on the face and body.
On the face I can
- treat deeper wrinkles, lines or folds
- Fill in areas with volume loss such as cheeks, temples
- Define cheekbones and lift sagging skin.
On the body it is a powerful tool against
- Cellulite
- Hip Dips
- for butt enlargement
- Dimple treatment
Sculptra® is injected with a blunt cannula to avoid bruising or vascular injury.
A series of treatments is required at the beginning, with the number of treatments depending on age and skin condition.
Immediately after the treatment, the fullness is visible due to the initial swelling and water content of the product, so you will notice a reduction within a few days. Collagen stimulation is a slow and gradual process, so the first real results can be seen four to six weeks after the first treatment. Please note that some patients may not see a difference for more than 6 weeks. Sculptra® results are long lasting, but must be maintained.
You can return to work immediately after the treatment.
“Sculptra and biostimulators are the future of filler treatments.”
How long does the effect last?
A Sculptra treatment series should consist of 2 – 3 sessions at intervals of 4 – 6 weeks. After that, the effect can last up to 2 years, as collagen production remains stimulated deep out of the body. A refresher treatment per year is recommended in some cases.
As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) based collagen stimulator, Sculptra helps restore the deep underlying structure of the skin to reduce facial wrinkles.
Sculptra Cost
In my practice, your well-being and an optimal result is our top priority. Each patient has an individuality whose needs are the focus of my treatments. Therefore, it is not always possible to give a general estimate of the costs. Therefore, please understand that we cannot quote a generally valid price for a Sculptra treatment. The cost of each treatment also depends on your personal starting point and your wishes.
