What is the ND YAG laser?
The Nd YAG laser emits a laser beam that is specifically absorbed by the pigmented lesion, destroying it in small particles that are more easily processed and removed by the body. Most patients are treated for ten minutes. Mild to moderate irritation of the overlying skin can be expected for a few days to a week, depending on the depth and amount of pigment being removed.

Is the Nd YAG laser suitable for me?
Nd YAG laser therapy is suitable for most skin types, except those with very dark skin. Patients with tanned skin should wait until their tan fades before choosing this treatment.
Unlike PhotoFacial treatment with IPL, there is a slight irritation of the skin with this laser treatment that usually lasts a few days to a week. However, for most patients, this mild irritation is not a concern, as the Nd YAG laser saves patients the inconvenience of repeated visits to the office.
What can I expect from the ND YAG laser?
Aside from some tightness or redness of the skin that lasts only a short time after the treatment, there are no side effects and the recovery time is minimal.
Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun immediately after a dermabrasion treatment and you will need to use a sunscreen for a few days after the treatment.
Are there any sideeffects with the ND Yag Laser?
Laser treatment for pigmentation disorders has a very good track record for safety and precision. Brown moles and pigments are mildly irritated for a few days to about a week. Side effects are rare and usually include temporary redness and irritation of the skin.
Is the Nd YAG laser painful?
The treatment is perceived by my patients as rather pleasant. The laser therapy it feels like a snapping rubber or a light sting on the skin. An anesthetic ointment can be applied about half an hour before the treatment to minimize any discomfort that may occur.
How many treatments are needed?
This depends on the type of pigment disorder or pigmented lesion. Some lesions like freckles usually require only 1-2 treatments, while other types, like tattoo removal, require more sessions.
“Nowadays, the Q Switch Nd Yag laser is a technologically very advanced laser treatment for the therapy of skin pigmentation disorders.”
