Radiofrequency therapy – the non-invasive innovation in skin tightening
Radiofrequency therapy is one of the newest, innovative treatments for non-invasive facial skin tightening. It offers very impressive results in patients with skin elasticity still intact. The energy of radiofrequency is used to combat wrinkles and tighten the face, neck and décolleté, resulting in a natural, relaxed and more youthful appearance.

What is radiofrequency therapy?
This radiofrequency therapy for face lifting is the latest development in aesthetic medical technology and is based on the effect of radiofrequency (RF) penetration to a depth of about 4.5 mm under the skin. This is the same depth at which I perform a surgical facelift procedure. Radiofrequency therapy tightens and smoothes facial skin more gently than any other therapy to date and is suitable for all skin types.
With the help of fractional radiofrequency and heat, which is not generated on the surface but in the depth of the skin, a strengthening of the existing collagen is achieved. At the same time, the therapy activates fibroblasts, which safely produce new collagen from within through the natural process of collagenogenesis.
How does radiofrequency therapy work?
The radiofrequency energy targets what is known as the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System). That is, the layer that is operated on during a surgical facelift to lift and correct sagging skin. In the same way, the treatment selectively focuses on problem areas and on multiple layers, creating a natural and gradual effect.
RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing the skin to tighten and stiffen, as well as stimulating collagen and elastin production. Because RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can provide faster and more dramatic results than compared to laser treatments.
An alternative treatment is fractional RF microneedling. RF microneedling adds the element of radiofrequency therapy to traditional microneedling (microneedling). Here, the RF energy is delivered through small needles. In addition to the micro-injury benefits of traditional microneedling, RF Microneedling also delivers energy further into the dermis.
Is radiofrequency therapy dangerous?
Radiofrequency therapy is a completely non-invasive method that leaves neither incisions nor scars. It does not interfere with internal organs, does not cause any injuries, is painless and absolutely safe.
Compared to laser treatments, radiofrequency therapy does not cause photosensitivity and can be performed all year round. Its effect is not affected by exposure to sunlight, as radiofrequency targets the depth rather than the surface of the skin. It also requires no anesthesia or recovery time and allows an immediate return to normal daily activities.
Radiofrequency therapy can be a very effective alternative to classic facelifts and thread lifts for all those patients who do not yet have the right indication for surgery and who may be afraid of needles or other invasive methods such as thread lifts.
Am I a candidate for radiofrequency therapy?
Radiofrequency therapy is especially suitable for men and women in their 30s to 60s. If you have shown the first signs of sagging and the first wrinkles, but the skin still retains a relatively high degree of flexibility, you are usually suitable for radiofrequency treatment. It can be applied to any part of the face and body where there is sagging, wrinkles and fine lines. In particular, on the face I see very good results on the cheekbones, double chin, neck and décolleté. If you want to improve your skin quality together with skin tightening, the treatment with radiofrequency microneedling, as radiofrequency alone, would be beneficial.
What can I expect after radiofrequency therapy?
Immediately after the treatment you may experience mild irritation and slight redness or swelling, which will gradually subside over the next few hours. This is a treatment that has no downtime at all.
Are the results visible immediately after radiofrequency therapy?
