When is the perfect age for breast augmentation? I can’t answer that for you. But I can show you what you can expect in each decade.

The breast stands for pure femininity, for aesthetics and sex appeal. Over the years of life, our breasts change – just like the entire body. The size and shape of the female breast are genetically determined. Nevertheless, some factors such as hormonal changes, weight and age can change the breasts. From puberty to after menopause, the female breast goes through some changes. But when is the right time for breast augmentation? In this article, I would like to give you an insight into how the breast changes over the years and what are the reasons for or against a breast augmentation (link breast augmentation) at a certain time in your life. Because breast augmentation can be performed at practically any age
and is as individual as your stage of life.

Our breast in puberty

Part of puberty is the slow but steady development of breasts in girls. Puberty marks the beginning of breast growth, which is usually completed between the ages of 17 and 18. However, due to hormonal fluctuations, the breast can still change until the age of 21. Breast development begins around the age of nine to twelve and is completed at around 16 or 18. However, these are only average values. From girl to girl or woman to woman, it varies completely how fast the breasts grow. For some young women it is faster, for others it takes longer. Before the development of the breasts is complete, it remains unclear how large or small they will be and what shape they will have.

Our breast in the 20s

Breast augmentation was the most common cosmetic surgical procedure among women in their 20s in 2020. At this age, many women opt for the procedure to correct asymmetries or to increase the size of their naturally small breasts. The 20s are an excellent time for breast augmentation. The body heals quickly and recovery times are usually minimal. Breast development is largely complete. A young woman’s breast is still subject to frequent changes. Hormones – including the pill – affect breast size and can fluctuate. In the twenties, the breast is usually firm and elastic, just like the rest of the body. There is no specific lifespan for implants. But if you have breast augmentation in your 20s, you will likely need to replace your implants at least once as you get older. Plan on one or more implant replacements, hopefully many years in the future.

Our breast in the 30s

Some women have already had one or more pregnancies at this age, others are getting pregnant now. Of course, this also affects the breast: After a birth or several births, they are often no longer as firm and may begin to sag. The nipples can also change, in some women they become larger or darker in color. Due to the stress on the skin during weight gain and weight loss, the breast tissue is heavily stressed and the elasticity suffers.

Breast augmentation is very popular among women in this decade. Some women opt for surgery to increase breast size or correct asymmetry. Others opt for breast augmentation to restore the shape and size of the breasts after pregnancy. Pregnancy, genetics and other factors contribute to breast sagging. Many women in their 30s wonder if they should wait to have breast surgery until they are no longer having children. The right answer for you depends on many Factors, but often there is no reason to delay. I can help you decide if the timing is right.

Our breast in the 40s

In their 40s, women often opt for breast augmentation to reverse the signs of aging and pregnancy. If the breasts have lost their youthful shape, an implant can help you improve their appearance. After 40, the body prepares for menopause. This change also has a great impact on the breasts. Due to the lack of estrogen, the elasticity of the connective tissue decreases and the breast automatically feels softer and less firm. In addition, the body produces less collagen with age and the skin in the breast area becomes thinner, which results in the first wrinkles appearing in the décolleté.

Breast augmentation is an excellent complement to a Mommy Makeover. If you are undergoing a tummy tuck, vaginal rejuvenation or other procedures, you should also consider breast augmentation. If you’ve already had a breast augmentation, you may be ready to replace your implants. Many women choose to change implants to change size or to correct problems such as capsular contracture.

Our breast in the 50s

During this time, the ratio of connective tissue, fatty tissue and glandular tissue changes. As less estrogen is produced, more fat is stored – also in the breasts. From 50 onwards, small, benign lumps also form more often in the breast and the breast tissue changes. Now it is important that you go for regular gynecological examinations and mammograms.

You think 50 is too old for breast augmentation? Think different. If you are in good health and want a change, you are probably ready for breast augmentation. This procedure is becoming more common in older patients and is an excellent choice if you want to change your appearance. I frequently perform breast surgery on women in their 50s and even early 60s with excellent results.
