From my point of view, breast augmentation is an operation on the breast, but it has an impact on the whole body. My goal is to offer every woman the perfect breasts, which are proportional to her body and also fit her individual body image. I feels so strongly about making your life better in every way within my power.

Depending on the method and technique, the operation takes 1-1.5 hours. 

You can usually leave your private recovery room on the same day. For our patients who come from abroad or from far away from Switzerland, we also offer overnight inpatient care.
When you will leave the clinic, you will be given a support bra to wear for 6 weeks, as well as all the medication you need so that you do not have to visit a pharmacy on the same day.

You will also have all the necessary instructions for after the surgery explained to you personally and also sent to you by mail. And most importantly, you can always reach our team 24/7 if you have any questions. Immediately after the surgery, you can always reach Dr. Kelly Vasileiadou on a cell phone number, even at night.

Further check-ups in the office are important in order to optimally accompany the healing process. After 2 days the dressings are changed and after about 1 week another wound check follows. Suture removal is not necessary, as the sutures are absorbable.

We will closely follow you during the healing process and scarring, advise you and provide you with proper care. If you are prone to severe scarring, we can assist you with Factional Laser or Medical Needling (special price for our surgery patients 250,-/session).

After a successful surgery and waiting for the healing process, you will be pain-free, able to breastfeed and exercise without any problems.

Breast implants can be placed on the pectoralis muscle in different ways depending on one’s anatomy: on the muscle, below the muscle and in the so-called “dual plane” technique.

The implant is often placed above the muscle and below the mammary gland when the breast is pendulous. This is still a frequently used technique by many surgeons today because it is technically easier. But if you don’t have a significant amount of natural breast tissue, you may be able to feel the outline of the implant and the transition from your breast to your upper body may look less natural. For this reason, this is not my preferred technique.

A submuscular approach (implant all the way under the muscle) results in a nice transition from the breast to the torso.  This approach also has the advantage of a lower rate of capsular contracture. This means that if your body naturally forms a capsule around the implant, it is much less likely to harden, become painful, or deform the breast shape. However, this technique often leads to the so-called “double bubble” effect or deformities of the implant because of the constant pressure of the implant from the muscle. 

The preferred technique for breast augmentation and the one I use the most is the “dual-plane” technique. This means the use of a dual plane, where the upper part of the implant is under the pectoralis muscle and the lower part is under the gland. This technique combines all the advantages of the two techniques described above and provides a particularly natural result in that the implant remains less palpable, the patient gets a more natural breast shape, and the rate of capsular contracture is reduced.

The incision for breast augmentation for a small breast is strategically placed to hide any signs of surgery. There are three ways to place the incision: under the breast (inframammary), a semicircle at the base of the areola (periareolar), or through the armpit (transaxillary).

An incision under the breast is used in 90% of cases because it heals well, is well hidden, and provides an excellent view of the tissue and the position of the implant during surgery. Although periareolar incisions (an incision at the base of the areola) are also popular, studies have shown that they can lead to higher rates of capsular contracture and loss of nipple sensation. The transaxillary approach is the third choice for breast augmentation. However, I do not recommend this incision because the scar is visible when you wear a sleeveless top and increases the risk of infection.

Deciding how big your breast implant should be for your breast is very important and requires careful planning and consideration, and can put a lot of stress on my patients. I take a lot of time with you to make the final decision. In my office, you can try on the “implant sizer” and work with my simulation program to get the best idea of how the added volume will look when you wear clothes.

Much of the decision is based on the width of your chest. Smaller, petite patients need a smaller breast implant because larger implants would show under their arms. Aside from considering your own ideals or vision, you also need to consider the goals you want to achieve with breast augmentation surgery, your lifestyle, and your age.

Breast augmentation is an operation where you will recover very quickly after the procedure. However, it is important that you carefully follow the post-operative instructions that you receive from me. 

The procedure takes no more than 60 minutes and you can go home the same day. Basically, you can start light daily activities on the first day after surgery and you can return to work five days post-operatively. However, you may resume strenuous activities and sports only after four weeks. You should wear the compression bra, which you will receive from us at home, for 6 weeks after the operation.

There are round and teardrop-shaped (anatomical) breast implants.

The anatomical implant has the peculiarity that 65% of the volume is in the lower pole, whereas in the round implant the distribution is 50:50. As a result, round implants emphasize the upper pole and the décolleté more than anatomical implants, which offer a more natural shape of the breast.

The implants also differ in texture. There are the textured, the smooth and the micro or nano textured implants. The difference lies in the manufacturing process, which is why textured implants are usually also firmer and more dimensionally stable than smooth implants. 

I work with the latest generation of silicone implants, which are very stable in shape, reliable, tested for many years and of high quality. The newest implants are characterized by a high standard of quality and safety, they integrate better with the female breast, the silicone gel adapts to the natural movement of the body and the feeling of the body is absolutely natural and pleasant.

The latest generation of breast implants do not have a date after which they need to be replaced. If you feel comfortable, there is no reason to replace them. It is very important that the breast implant I use for breast augmentation comes with a lifetime guarantee.

During pregnancy, the size and shape of the breasts change – regardless of whether breast augmentation was performed or not. Pregnancy often changes the shape of your breast tissue, but the implants remain the same. The hormonal changes during pregnancy affect the structure of your breasts, but do not affect the implant.

Many of my patients have asked when is the best time for breast augmentation. Here I have found that there are two age groups. The first group is women in their twenties, and the second is women in their late thirties or early forties who already have children. With the first group, I often talk to them about their plans to have children. If they are getting married and expecting children soon, we may postpone placing breast implants because the breasts will change during pregnancy. But if you are not planning to have children in the near future, there is no reason to wait.

Contrary to the fears of many women, breast augmentation with implants does not affect the ability to breastfeed. The implant is placed under the breast tissue and often under the pectoralis muscle, away from the milk ducts.
