If you are considering facial contouring with fillers, it is critical to understand the anatomical changes happening during the aging process. In general, there are 2 things happening that come into play:

1. There is the aging and “thinning” of our facial skin, which is associated with the loss and disruption of collagen and elastin fibers. 
2. There is the development of hollowness and the fading of youthful contours from loss of soft tissues and bone

As a result, the aging face has less like a heart shape and looks more oval. With the latest generation of hylauronic acid fillers and minimally invasive  techniques, it is now possible to improve the cheeks, eyebrows, chin, jawline and rejuvenate your appearance.

Facial contouring with fillers, which consists of injections with blunt cannulas and not sharp needles, is completed in just 30-45 minutes. To minimize your discomfort, I use dermal fillers including lidocaine. In more sensitive areas, I often use a numbing cream. Once injected into the skin, the filler immediately plumps up the skin and smooths out facial wrinkles for a fuller, younger appearance while preserving the natural features that make you you.

Injected into the skin at just the right angle, dermal fillers act like a three-dimensional grid that lifts the cheeks and jowls, giving them a natural-looking, fuller and more youthful appearance. The procedure can also correct the appearance of the eyebrows, jawline, and chin line. Overall, my goal is to achieve effects that sculpt the facial contours but  don’t make them look volumised.

In general, almost all of us are suitable for facial contouring with fillers. Important to mention is that loss of volume happens already in the early years of aging. This is why young patients with early signs of facial aging, such as a flattening of the cheek area and jowls, come daily to our practice.

It is also suitable for people who want to tighten certain areas of the face, but are not ready to undergo a surgical procedure such as a facelift. I also often see patients who have had a facelift in the past and would like to restore volume and keep their results even longer, avoiding further surgery.

My big goal at this procedure is always to support the natural features of your face, emphasizing and enhancing them. You don’t have to have fear of unnatural results in my practice.

Dermal filler treatments are not connected to a downtime nowadays. At the end of the treatment, you may experience mild swelling, which may last 2-3 days. In some cases, there may be bruises, which disappear in the next few days. We work with cooling the face during the whole procedure and applying the bespoke after care from Dr. Kelly^® Skincare. That minimises the symptoms and patients are immediately presentable. 

After the treatment, you see already the effect of the fillers, but the fillers will keep working so that after about 3-4 weeks you will see the first final result. Often, we then arrange another control appointment with you to possibly take further steps.

The effect is immediate and lasts for about 12-18 months depending on the material applied, in some cases longer or shorter. Treatment with injectable fillers can be combined with thread lifting, botox or Sculptra for maximum effect.

During pregnancy, breastfeeding, blood clotting disorders, anticoagulation, aspirin and NSAID intake, local inflammation or herpes, therapy with fillers should be avoided.
