How does plasma liposuction actually work?

This innovative method combines fat removal (PAL, power assisted liposuction) with skin tightening. To make this work, we use the so-called plasma energy flow in plastic medicine. Plasma is commonly understood as the fourth aggregation state, which is created when sufficient energy is supplied to matter – in this case your skin. It is therefore a state that goes beyond the gaseous state.

Figuratively speaking, you can imagine a ‘cloud’ of charged particles: It contains negative electrons, positive ions, radicals and molecules. This ionised gas – which we call plasma – has certain effects that can be used both externally and internally in plastic surgery. In plasma liposuction, the ionised particles reach the deeper layers of your skin and can be used there for corrective treatments. The generated plasma transfers the energy precisely to the skin, but is gentle on the surrounding tissue. Scars and pain do not occur with this procedure.

On which body parts can I use plasma liposuction?

Plasma liposuction is extremely versatile and is suitable for very different areas of the body: Used on your belly, the method helps to remove fat deposits. At the same time, it tightens your abdominal skin. On the thighs, plasma liposuction can reduce unwanted ‘saddlebags’ smoothening the skin of your thighs. On your arms, it ensures an improved skin structure. It can be used to successfully treat sagging areas in particular.

We like to use this procedure on the hips and flanks to model our patients’ silhouettes. We can also help those who suffer from fat deposits on the back with plasma liposuction. The treatment of a double chin is also frequently requested: here, plasma liposuction can achieve very good, natural results, such as a clearly defined jawline and firmer skin on the neck.

Not suitable for weight loss

So for whom is plasma liposuction suited for? Generally speaking, for anyone who is struggling with localised fat accumulation who would like to benefit from skin tightening at the same time. As experienced specialists, we tailor each treatment to the individual needs of our patients.

In a preliminary consultation, we always make sure to point out that this method is not a substitute for weight loss. It is used to reduce body fat in selected areas and to sculpt individual areas of your body that are difficult or impossible to change through exercise and diet because stubborn fat deposits have already formed. 

Briefly explained: The plasma liposuction procedure

Plasma liposuction naturally begins with a consultation: I and my team will discuss with you which area of your body shall be treated and with what goal. We record your individual wishes in the treatment plan. At the same time, we explain to our patients in advance what results they can realistically expect.

We usually perform the minimally invasive procedure under twilight sleep. For that surgery we only need 1.5 to 2 mm incision points that are used as entry for the cannulas and leave no scar at all.

After the treatment, it is essential that you follow our instructions for aftercare for the relevant body area. Clothing with a compression function usually improves the result and accelerates the healing process, which takes about one to two weeks.
